Fulfilment vs Gratitude
Gratitude has been a practice for a million years. Or at least since Oprah introduced the concept in the early 90’s. It is something that I personally think works. Start your day and end your day throughout the day… take the time for gratitude.
BUT, when it seems the whole world is burning down, how do we keep ourselves fulfilled. I think first, we must define what it is.
fulfillment
[fo͝olˈfilmənt]
NOUN
the achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted.
"winning the championship was the fulfillment of a childhood dream"
synonyms:
achievement · accomplishment · realization · realizing · fulfilling · effecting · [more]
satisfaction or happiness as a result of fully developing one's abilities or character.
"she did not believe that marriage was the key to happiness and fulfillment"
synonyms:
happiness · delight · joy · gladness · rapture · glee · satisfaction · gratification · contentment · contentedness · enjoyment · amusement · delectation
the meeting of a requirement or condition.
"the fulfillment of statutory requirements"
the performance of a task, duty, or role as required, pledged, or expected.
"the need to eliminate excess by the security forces in fulfillment of their duties"
synonyms:
carrying out · execution · discharge · conducting · conduct · effecting · accomplishment · achievement · completion · dispatch · implementation · effectuation
So, now that we see the definition, what does it mean to you to achieve something? What requirements do you have for yourself that make you feel like a champion? We place a lot of requirements on ourselves, and allow others to as well. Do you work through your to do list with grace? If it is a burden, how do we view getting our day to day done as fulfillment… I would say we probably don’t.
Take time today, be grateful, watch your requirements. Find a way to be your own champion every single day. If you have worn actual pants within the last week, you are in first place.
